  • I'd like to give this place more stars, because we mostly liked the food, but it's really unpleasant to be eating in such utter darkness. Really. I mean, we like subdued lighting in a bar, but this place prides itself on its food -- which, for Mexican, is not cheap -- so you'd kinda like to see the plating. Moreover, it really sucks to be presented with a dish that has multiple elements, and then not be able to see what's what without a flashlight....hmm, is that julienned item a piece of apple, a piece of zucchini, or something else entirely? No joke -- throughout the meal, I had to put down my knife and fork, and scan my plate with the tiny flashlight the manager handed out, so I could see where to cut the meat off the duck leg I was eating. I'm not making this up...when we asked to up the lights a bit, the manager came by and told us he couldn't do that, but he could give us each a tiny flashlight! Since the place is right next to the SCPA, it's convenient for a pre-performance meal, so we may be back when it's a little cooler and we can sit outdoors where there's some light. But it's not 5-star dining, so we won't go out of our way to return.
