  • I prefer the hotels in the Fremont area. The staff at these hotels are more "down to earth", those who stay at these properties are also more down to earth. Don't get me wrong, I'm no snob, I just prefer people who strike up a conversation. Ok, about El Cortez... if u can, stay in the "Vintage Rooms". These rooms harken back to the Vegas of the 50s / 60s. No elevator access, but who cares. Parking is easy for these rooms and as u come down the staircase, u are entering directly into the casino - just like in the old days! One hint, if u can, pay u room deposit w/ a credit card. If u use ur debit card, ur money could be tied up for 5 business days!
