When I first moved to Toronto, I hit up as many of these street festivals as I could during the summer. Then at some point I realized that all of these festivals are the same and really not much more than marketing opportunities for the banks, phone companies, etc.
TOD is about as bad as they get.
Super crowded? OH YEAH. But what gets me is that all of the food seems to be the regular food you can get any other time--for about the same price. Maybe even less! There is never any seating at these things so you can to walk or stand around with your overpriced kebob. No thanks.
Did I mention how crowded it gets? Count on getting rammed with a stroller several times--this thing is breeder central.
Oh, and it is always during one of the hottest parts of the summer.
There are stages for free music but a lot of it has nothing to do with Greek culture. This is simply a big street festival in Greektown. Any connections to Greek culture are only due to location, get it?
I guess everyone should go once just to experience it but in the end, it is nothing much more than the restaurant food being served outside on paper plates and tons and tons of street marketing. You'd probably have more fun taking your bike to Toronto Island for the day.
