I know this review is overdue considering this happened the last time my car needed inspected but it has done nothing but piss me off every time I've thought about it.
I HAD been a faithful customer of Bruce Brothers since 2003 when I moved to Pittsburgh and found them in Shadyside when I needed tires for a trusty 1995 VW. Even after that location closed, I would still get in my car and drive from Shadyside to Bethel Park to get tires as well as go out for the 6000 mile rotations to keep the tires warranty valid.
Even through the next 3 cars I would make the 1/2 day trip to Bethel Park to get tires and rotations bc the guys were always fair and took care of me pretty well.
Last year I had to replace 2 tires on my current car and took it in for replacements and found that the location had moved and there was a new desk "manager" person. One of the tires started losing air and I took the car back in within 2 weeks and I was told that the tire had not seated and that it just needed to be remounted. NO PROBLEM! No harm no foul and we can all move on with our lives.
About 6 weeks later, the same slow leak began and I returned to Bruce Brothers to have it corrected. This time I was confronted with a different situation...
The same manager was helping me and he said that I had apparently taken the car to another garage (within that six week timeframe ) and had 1 tire patched 3 TIMES! I tried to explain my customer loyalty to no avail. The worst part is that the red head owner/manager that I've worked with multiple times every year, just stood there with his thumb up his ass.
The kicker is that the tire, had it been replaced when I was in 6 weeks previously, it would have been covered by warranty but it was now just a month out of warranty and I had to pay full retail for 2 low profile Audi tires.
Needless to say, that day, Bruce Brothers lost a loyal customer who went from happily referring customers to their business to telling this story, over and over again!
What I am curious about is whether the manager was aware of the patchwork (that had to have been done at Bruce Brothers bc I never went anywhere else) and encouraged the lie that the leak was due to poor initial installation?
