  • I've been attending Kosama for six months now and I can honestly say this is the first gym that I absolutely love. I've had gym memberships all my life that I never really used because I don't have the discipline to push myself on my own. I used to workout on the treadmill for 30 minutes and never break a sweat. I used to attend group fitness classes filled with 50+ people at a time and never feel like I was getting a good workout. Kosama is totally different. The first thing I noticed is that there are no treadmills and no weight machines. They use kettlebells, TRX, pull up bars, kickboxing bags and sometimes resistance bands. But often times we don't use any equipment at all. My very favorite thing about Kosama is the small size of the classes. I usually attend the 9am class and the number of participants is usually 10 people. I've seen the class as small as 4 people and as large as 18 people. Daniel is the instructor for the morning classes and he ROCKS! I feel like I'm getting small group personal training at the cost of a mega gym. Daniel always takes the time to make sure you are doing the exercise with proper form and he pushes you to your potential. I've never had that before and it's exactly what I've been looking for. If you have knee injuries, shoulder injuries, or any other injury, they will help you modify your exercises - so there is no excuse not to workout! The Kosama workouts are challenging and it feels like they are never the same twice. Another thing that I LOVE about Kosama is how the workouts build your small muscle groups as well as your large muscle groups. For example, there are so many exercises that work all the muscles around your knee - not just your quads and hamstrings like you would get if you were just using a weight machine at a regular gym. And be prepared to sweat. You will work hard, very hard. I really like the format of the classes. There are TV's on the wall that tell you what exercise to do and how much time is left. It also gives you a preview of what exercise is next, and how much time is left in the class. The classes vary each week too. One week may have Strength training on Tuesday and the following week it may be on Thursday. I also made the one-time purchase of a heart rate monitor chest band. I wear it every class and I can see my stats real-time on the TV's on the wall. It tells me my heart rate, calories burned, and percentage of maximum heart rate which is color coded so it's easy to tell if I'm working at 90% and in the red zone, or at 65% and in the blue zone. I also receive an email immediately after class the summarizes my stats for me. If you have tried the mega gyms and it's just not working for you, if you can't afford personal training, if you have an injury or if you just need someone to motivate and push you to give your best - then try Kosama. There are NO long term contracts so you really have nothing to lose. Check their website for an introductory special, or a couple of times a year they do a Living Social deal. I just wish that I would have found Kosama years ago. I can't imagine going anywhere else now!
