  • At a basic level, this is a very nice hotel that has recent furnishings. It is clean and nice, and has an air of luxury (in an Embassy Suites sort of way). Room: Rooms are well appointed. They are not huge, but they are big enough especially if you have a true suite with separate living area like we did. In our case, our bathroom was quite large. I was surprised that the kitchen was so nice. I don't think that other Embassy Suites that I stayed in had a full stove/oven combo. We also asked for a crib, and it was already in our room at check-in. Friendly Staff: Most of the staff was pretty friendly, particularly the front desk and the housekeeping staff. The concierge/bellman was very helpful in finding local attractions, amenities, stores, and restaurants. The hotel restaurant staff (where we had dinner and the manager's happy hour) certainly left something to be desired in the friendliness department. They were terse with their words, or sometimes very slow to serve. It seemed inconsistent with others on staff. Location: Location was excellent. It is across the street from the convention center and a block away from Old Montreal. The metro is nearby, as is Chinatown. This is a great location regardless of whether you are there for tourism or on business. It is easy to get to the underground malls as well. My one complaint is that there were several shortcomings that the staff did not take responsibility for, nor address properly during our stay. That's the difference between a 5 star review and a 3 star review in my book. 1. We paid a bit more for the premium floor which comes with free snacks and drinks. These snacks and drinks were in a vending machine in the hallway, and we were given a vending machine code at check in. Anyways there were several selections in the machine that were broken or out of stock... roughly 3 of 4 of our desired selections would not work. So, we felt a bit cheated that we paid extra money and got just a couple of our 4th choice snacks. 2. One of our lamps did not work. Staff did not remedy that nor even apologize. 3. The kitchen was missing utensils. We ended up just using our baby food utensils that we brought from home. 4. The whirlpool tub did not work (aside from just filling with water). Anyway, one of the above by itself wouldn't be a big deal. But what was really annoying was that there were multiple issues and the staff didn't seem to care.
