"where are you staying?"
"Monte Carlo."
"where the eff is THAT?"
"so what do you think about this hotel? be honest."
"GHETTO."
I've stayed at Monte Carlo twice with a few girlfriends for our past Vegas trips. All I have to say is that as a hotel, it gets the job done. There are clean beds, a clean bathroom, place to put your shit, mirrors, lights, an iPod dock... but that's it. Otherwise, it is old and doesn't feel shiny and pretty like Vegas should.
I had stayed at the Aria one night and after checking into Monte Carlo it hit me hard that this was a MAJOR downgrade. My exact thoughts were "....damn, should've showered when we were in Aria." My thoughts after getting in the shower were "... damn, should've grabbed the shampoo and conditioner from Aria." The shampoo and conditioner SUCKS sooo much here, don't even bother- it doesn't do ANYTHING for your hair. AND the bathroom ventilation is crappy. I could go on and on...
The location is semi-okay but technically this hotel isn't even ON the strip. You drive down this long street/ side road to get to it. Two good things I can say for Monte Carlo is - 1) huge free self parking lot and 2) it's pretty close to Aria and City Center in which you can take a short walk or the free tram.
Seriously, you know the hotel isn't nice when you notice there's not a single security at the elevators... even at 4am...
For people on a budget and with low standards then Monte Carlo works. For me, it is definitely not my preferred choice.
