  • Really more of a 3.5, but I digress. So, let's say your family gambles at The Orleans so much that they get dining comps from them all the time, right? Since that describes my family to a T, lately, we've been going here about once per month thanks to comps that allow us to eat here for basically free. Is it the best buffet in town? Not quite, but it ranks pretty high up there among locals places at least. As a matter of fact, the Feast Buffets at the Stations are the only ones that give this joint a run for it's money. There are numerous Creole, Cajun and other southern-style touches scattered throughout. Most notable is the fact that it's probably the only buffet in town that serves crayfish. And eight times out of ten, gumbo is included as one of the daily soup options. Everything else is pretty standard fare, but most of it is done fairly well. The chicken wings in particular are always tender, well-seasoned and tend to fall right off the bone. One major gripe I have about this place is how certain things aren't seasoned up to par. The last time I came I tried to do some makeshift Hoppin' John with black eyed peas and smoked sausage and it just ended up tasting like a bland, soggy mess. Another one is that desserts tend to be pretty hit and miss. The ribs are also tough as nails but I've found that to be true of ribs at literally EVERY buffet so that's just a universal complaint right there. They also have a "Mongolian" section which is probably the most useless section to have in a buffet ever. Other than that though, you do get your money's worth here. Especially if you're able to eat her for essentially free. *Wink Wink* The Final Verdict Pros: Generous comp provided by The Orleans. One of the better locals casino buffets. Wide variety of cajun and creole delicacies available. Diverse selection of seafood as well. Usually friendly service. Probably one of the fastest moving lines for a buffet I've ever seen. Cons: Occasionally a little deficient in the seasoning department. Sometimes great desserts, sometimes not. Decor in dire need of updating. Huh?: Why is there a Mongolian section? Like, for real? Suggestions: Replace that Mongolian section with either 1. A crepe making station or 2. A full-fledged Cajun/Creole/Soul Food section. Also, beignets in the dessert section! That way the theme comes full circle! Return factor: 10/10. We're probably going to get another comp in the mail anyway.
