| - They don't treat applicants for properties managed by them very professionally or courteously.
I tried to lease a property managed by Landlord. I didn't get the property, which I'm not upset about, the Toronto rental market is very competitive at the moment. However, their interactions with me through the application process were unprofessional. They come off as having an attitude of "we can rent to anyone in this market, so we can act however we want."
In my case, they collected my application material, then told me they would take four days to make a decision. This is really unusual. Most other management companies take a day to process applications on a first apply-first served basis. I got the feeling they were waiting to collect more applications, then look at them all and pick the best one. I don't mind if they do that, but at least be transparent about it.
On their application form, it says (I paraphrase): "we may or may not let you know the results of your application."
I sent them an email asking them to please let me know the results of the application, which they acknowledged. A few days later, no word from them, and no response to a followup email.
Given their attitude, I would avoid dealing with them if I could help it.
