  • I was taking my dogs on their nightly walk, and when we passed a house with a dog it started barking so my boys went over to it. NBD, they always do that, so I tugged the leashes to keep going forward, just like normal. We walked past the house and I noticed some blood on one of my dog's head- not normal!! I couldn't see a cut so I glanced at my other dog, who at that point had blood pouring out of his mouth. I hurried home to figure out what the hell happened, and I saw my younger dog had bit his tongue and it was a gushing fountain of blood. Mind you, this was 11:30 at night, and at this point I'm absolutely terrified; so as my girlfriend starts up the car I search google maps for "24 hour animal hospital" and google, god bless 'em, has the ABSOLUTE WORST algorithm because everything that came up said "closed" "closed" "closed". Meanwhile my dog is covered in blood, I'm covered in blood, and at this point the passenger seat is also covered in blood so I'm just about to have a coronary, because my dogs are my babies and I can't think straight. Somehow, someway I found the number for Phoenix Veterinary and somehow spit out that we were coming. The receptionist asked where we were coming from and I told her (Central Phoenix) and she said, "That's very far!" I somehow spit out that I couldn't find anywhere closer (I had a bleeding dog on my lap and was freaking out in my own right). She calmly told me about a closer 24 hour vet where I could go. If you're still reading-first of all, thank you- she gave me the number to Scottsdale Veterinary Clinic and my boy is just fine. Tongue wounds in dogs tend to heal just fine, despite copious amounts of blood, but hearing that from a vet gave me the peace of mind I desperately needed. Long story short, in my most desperate moment the Receptionist at Phoenix Veterinary on the night of June 30, 2017 helped me in my time of need, and I'm so grateful. Any place that employs such kind and thoughtful people is absolutely worth patronizing.
