I'll preface, that I had zero expectations going in, I had just come off of a meh and overpriced meal at the Capital Grille the night before, so was sort of over "fine dining". My friends and I were hankering for some Italian (aka lots of wine) and last minute decided to go to Tambellini.
The price didn't bother me, but again not sure if this was because I had just sat through Capital Grille's absurdity of a pricing model. I was just thrilled that I didn't have to pay extra for an average salad and pasta...
They have a BYOB options so we brought our own wine. The bread came with some sort of drinkable (dramatic effect) olive oil that I wanted to pour on everything. We ordered meatballs as an appetizer. Delish.... the meatballs were huge and the sauce was also drinkable.
I got a chicken special that they basically should have named after me. Chicken with a Marsala sauce, topped with melty cheese AND prosciutto. I opted for trenne noodles for my pasta side per my friend's suggestion. This was so good. I was a lady at the restaurant and only ate half, but promptly microwaved the leftovers when I got home. My friends got the salmon special and trenne with chicken and tomato cream sauce and loved both.
We also got the butterscotch pound cake, which I couldn't stop eating and I don't even like sweets.
Our service was wonderful and I can't wait to go back... this weekend... and every weekend!
