  • The plaster is cracked and chipping in the corners of rooms: don't know if the building has gone through one too many earthquakes and is getting ready to collapse Mexico City style, or is showing its age. Was this built before the end of atomic testing? Who knows... minus 2 points. It's very expensive here: two 1/2 liter bottles of water cost $4.00 each. Ouch! What, the casino isn't making enough money? Minus 2 points. The really good thing about the hotel/casino is that it's a paradise for those of us who like to get in our aerobics without sweating in the 100° F blazing-sun outdoors. Getting anywhere usually involves 15-20 minutes of walking, sort of like the Atlanta airport but without passenger flight boarding announcements. Bring your walking shoes and get a couple of miles of walking in every day -- more if you're attending a conference. Who ever needed walkways when you can thread your way in between miles of slot machines and gaming tables? The drinks they pour are generous. Plus 1 point. The lights in our bath and closet area weren't working this morning, so we had to gather our stuff in the darkness to leave the hotel. No big deal this morning, but last night, it would have been a real inconvenience.
