| - This review is for the Magic Show at 6pm. I have not been to any of the other shows at this venue. The parking is problematic because you have to drive across the pedestrian sidewalk to reach the lot. The parking fee is $10. The theater is only a few feet from the lot, thus very convenient.
In the lobby is a seating area, lounge, and bar. You wait there until your name is called. I ordered from the bar a beer and a house wine - $18.75. Once our name was called we were led to a showroom and told to sit anywhere we wanted in a specific area. We chose a booth on the left. The floor was sticky and the whole place could benefit from a good scrubbing down.
The magic show itself consisted of some large prop tricks with a mixture of closeup magic. The magic itself was pretty elementary. Many of the tricks (rope trick, cups and balls, card tricks) are some of the first tricks learned by beginners. The larger prop tricks hold no surprises. I think this would be a good show for kids and might interest them in magic. As an adult who has seen dozens of magic acts - the whole thing seemed routine, not well choreographed and pretty elementary.
Tommy himself, near the end of his show, takes about five minutes to tout his magic kits, autographed souvenirs etc. that are available in the lobby. He does this in great detail, including giving the prices and features of each kit. This was tacky. Acceptable would have been to just say something like, "Be sure to visit the gift stand on your way out".
The bathrooms room were very clean and had plenty of soap, paper products. They appear to have been recently remodeled. So the owners are working on improvements.
Considering that the tickets were free. It ended up costing us $30 for three (including the parking fee and two drinks). I consider this a fair price for what we received.
