So when I was hungover today, all I could think of was doughnuts. I desparately needed a doughnut --in my mind the word sounded like "douuuuggghhnuttt"-- and this shop was the only one to fill that hole.
I know a lot of blood, sweat and tears went into this place and though the doughnuts are overpriced (sorry, they are) I will support this small, Canadian business. Why? Because they care and they love what they do.
On decor: I love the decal and fonts on the window. I do wish there was more seating or at least a bench outside or another chair and table inside. That said, I know there are a bunch of crackheads around so the outside bench idea may be kyboshed. I also know that a place like Glory Hole is going to get crowded quick so it may not be able to support one or two tables inside.
I ATE
I had the Elvis - peanut butter, marshmallow and bacon. It was soft, moist and fluffy unlike my hangover. It satiated that doughnut craving in a minute. Doughnuts have three baking periods (opening, around afternoon and at another time) and they go fast!
OBLIGATORY CATCHY REMARK
I like their tagline: the stuff creams are made of.
It's a different angle on dessert. Ashley definitely has this niche covered!
