| - I was in tonight with a friend for a few well deserved TGIF beers. This place probably has the best beer selection in the Annex, so if you like beer, and you're in the Annex - do it.
Service was attentive and friendly which I appreciated as we're in a heat wave and I was sweaty as hell and needed a drink.
As for the food, the menu is pretty eclectic, and I basically had very low expectations for the food given that the Annex isn't exactly an epicurean's dream. My assumptions were correct. We had the fish taco (bland, dry, fell apart), and the lobster grilled cheese (soggy, and flavours overpowered by the addition of cocktail sauce). Lobster and cocktail sauce seemed a weird choice and a bad one.
The vibe seemed like it's for recent grads who are upgrading from El Furniture Warehouse so instead of $5 dollars for food you might pay between 10-15 and instead of keg dregs or Budweiser you're going for a hopped up IPA.
Would I go back? If I'm in the Annex and want a beer, sure, why the hell not. Good service, good beer, shabby food - 2 out of 3 ain't bad!
