After checking into our room at the MGM and getting unpacked, we immediately decided to get our trip started with some pre-dinner cocktails. Our first stop was Whiskey Down just off of the main lobby and casino floor at the MGM. Their whiskey list wasn't bad but it wasn't as good as I'd hoped to find in a bar with whiskey in its name. The pricing seemed fair, though, compared to other bars given the expected Strip markup. The cocktails weren't bad either. My Manhattan Blvd. ($14) was good, but still nothing special for the price. Despite its whiskey focus, Whiskey Down was, at its heart, your standard 24-hour casino bar. It wasn't a destination bar for whiskey-lovers.
