| - I love this place. If you are new to Bikram you may think the claims about its effects are a little extreme and overrated. I can tell you that the claims are true. I have done many types of yoga over the years. But Bikram yoga is the only method that changes my body from the inside out. Yes, its true. You can actually experience straight out euphoria after class, an uplifted energetic and happy feeling for hours.
I have done Bikram off and on for 25 years, and have practiced in several other states. I have a chronic health condition which appeared during one of my breaks from Bikram, and I used this yoga to get healthy again. My condition only responds to Bikram yoga. If I'm not doing this class regularly I go downhill again. I feel better, look younger, have made phenomenal progress that doctors are baffled at, and I will never stop doing this yoga.
Westside is now my home base Bikram studio. The instructors here are challenging and will push you, yet they exude true warmth and caring, as well as a high degree of skill. I have received some of the best instruction here on fine details and nuanced observations about how to improve form. They are demanding, but not like some of the Bikram boot camps I've been to. You can sit down without being chided. You can leave the room without being stopped, they will check on you but not stop you. I have found that if I'm allowed to do "my own practice" by sitting out a pose if I need to, I acutally progress and build stamina more quickly than when I let some instructor push me beyond my limits.
The studio is hot, you know, like Bikram hot. However, not hell-hole hot like on Decatur where I had to stop going because of the overwhelming heat. All of the instructors are good but I particularly like Dray, Frank, and Priscilla. They seem to be more diligent about monitoring the room temp at all times during the class. I hate to leave any instructor out.... all of them at Westside are absolutely inspiring. I do so wish that George from Summerlin taught here.
And, finally the facilities are clean. The showers and toilets are super clean. The yoga room may have a little bit of an odor sometimes but generally you will not find the room to be gross like some other Bikram studios across the country.
