| - I had been trying to get to bagel factory for like two weeks, to get my mother Matzo ball soup. And as they close fairly early- usually around 2 at the Ellsworth location- I kept missing it. I finally made it there and ordered my soup and 6 bagels. As soon as I left, I sent my BF a text that read "I just got robbed at Bagel Factory!!" A quart of soup was $9.99!! That's pretty steep, even for Shadyside standards. I don't really like bagel factory bagels, with the exception of their veggie (they have chunks of carrots and things, which I quite enjoy) but I would go there instead of, say, Einstein's or Bruegger's, to support a small local business. After paying almost $17 for a quart of soup and 6 bagels, I am rethinking that. The people/service is pretty average; not overly nice or overly rude, so that's certainly not going to keep me coming back. I guess I feel like the bagels/food aren't as good as the price reflects.
To be fair, my mother and father love it here; the soup, the bagels, the sandwiches...pretty much everything. They have omelets and things for breakfast, and sandwiches and soups for lunch, and donuts and other various sweets....it's a decent menu, in terms of size, just not anything I really like or think is worth the price.
