  • First, I'd like to identify that I am a registered nurse and I take patient care very seriously. Patients should be valued and be allowed to express themselves without fear of judgment or retaliation. Unfortunately, I received stunningly poor care overall at this facility by select employees. I've had two recent experiences at this hospital (two surgeries over two months). One was outpatient and the other required an overnight stay. My encounters with the OR and registration were okay but my overnight stay left a lot to be desired. My pain was well managed by the day nurse but the night shift nurse left me in crippling pain by morning. I felt that I was not heard when voicing my needs to stay ahead of the pain and that her assumptions determined her actions. I was under medicated and not being heard. I had no sleep that night and my pain was exacerbated by the anxiety from her lack of responsiveness to my needs. My pain was only increasing through the night and I felt like I was being treated as drug seeking for expressing my honest needs (I was only hours out of major surgery). By morning, the day nurse saw what had happened and contacted the doctor. She was able to get things under control so I could be comfortable, ambulate, and handle the ride home. The doctor also was disappointed that he was not contacted sooner. The CNA was just awful as well... I couldn't believe how he burst into my room in the morning, demanding that I walk and insisting that my pain was due to my lack of ambulation and air in my abdomen. I asked him several times to pause as I felt he was yelling toward me. He wasn't hearing me express that this was my third laparoscopic surgery and I knew what gas pain feels like. I was experiencing more than what his predeterminations led him to believe. After being unresponsive to my requests and continuing to talk over me, I insisted that he leave the room and not return. Had they listened to me, as the day nurse had, I would've been able to ambulated sooner. Within one hour of my day nurse getting things managed, I was ambulating with no problem and made it home comfortably. I was hesitant to use this hospital due to the terrible reviews. I went ahead and gave them a chance. Unfortunately, I regret that decision. They are transitioning to new management and hopefully they will take the many recent issues into consideration as they implement changes.
