  • My wife bought a Honda brand new from Right Honda dealership in 2012. We took the car in last week to have several routine maintenance items completed (oil change, brake fluid, etc.). On the way home we noticed the sunroof was not fully closed. We attempted to close the sunroof several times but were not successful. We called back the service department and spoke with Bill who informed us to come back in and he would take a look. Bill looked at the sunroof and informed us this was not a Honda sunroof. It was supposedly installed by an outside vendor prior to selling the car to my wife. We asked Bill how much this was going to cost and he said, "we will cover the cost for you and put you in a rental car while the repairs take place." Although we were disappointed the dealership never disclosed an aftermarket sunroof had been installed in her brand new car, we were satisfied at this point. I dropped the car off for what was supposed to be a free repair and got in a rental car that was provided by the dealership. Later that day, I received a call from Bill advising it was going to cost $390 to repair the sunroof. Long story short, I spoke with a few folks at the service department, managers included, and was informed they will not be covering the repairs. Excuses for not covering the cost for the sunroof repairs included, "we wouldn't have touched the sunroof" and "it's a coincidence that the sunroof broke while in the shop." They even said "it was going to break soon anyways." A car is a big financial commitment. You should be able to trust the dealership that you purchased it from to step up and admit when they are at fault for something. Right Honda will smile and tell you "we will take care of it." What they really mean is they will not accept responsibility for their mistakes. What does it say about a dealership when they apologize for malfunction and go from telling us it will be covered at no charge to all of a sudden deciding they want to try to squeeze my wife out of nearly $400? This dealership is going to sacrifice $390 on any future car sales from our family. I hope that many of you read this review and decide to take your business elsewhere.
