| - Cakeview has been here forever. Probably since before I was born. I remember coming here as a kid and it looks the same as it always has and it'll definitely feel like there's something missing when this place is gone.
Cakeview does a little bit of everything - a Chinese bakery that doubles as an HK style cafe. I see lots of people coming in to buy their cakes and they're pretty standard for a Chinese bakery. Want breakfast, lunch, or dinner? You can get that here too. Sandwiches, eggs, noodles, rice, snacks... Don't expect five star food though, everything is very simply made and feels kind of like home cooked food. I usually come here for dinner and get the rice with chicken or pork. Any of the sauces are fine - tomato, onion, black pepper.. dinner comes with a drink. We usually get cold milk tea. Dinner is about $7 and includes the drink.
Last time I went for some reason they only gave one piece of meat. Usually it's two. We also got a cream cheese tart which surprised me - it was good! Felt like eating light cheesecake in a tart. It was busy even at 7pm, at least ten customers there at a time eating dinner or buying bread.
For the price you can't go wrong! Service is typical of Chinese places. Efficient, but not unfriendly. The staff seem comfortable with each other and they're pretty chill.
