This place has some decent sushi for the University area. When you go inside the space is actually pretty big. They have lots of booths as well as tables and a couple bars. The decor and the booths and tables are a little bit older looking. Some of the booths have torn fabric. There is also this room off the of the dining room that looks like it's just used for storage. But all of it is pretty much in plain view. It's kind of weird.
The service is pretty good here usually. Last time my friend and I each ordered a beer to start. And then my friend switched to a soda and I ordered a water. My friend was asked if she would like a refill or a to go cup despite her soda was more full than my water and the server completely ignored my drink.
The price for the sushi is comparable to what you might expect at other sushi restaurants. Maybe a dollar or two cheaper on some of the rolls. The rolls here are all pretty good - but nothing spectacular or special. For that reason, whenever I am craving sushi I usually will opt to go to a different place. I usually only end up at Ishi if one of my friends chooses it.
