I went there last week for lunch and my bud was all stoked to have me try their vegie burger. I coulda had the salad, I guess - thought I would have had to have the one without bacon. It's called Griffintown Café but they might as well call it Griffintown Bacon for the sheer amount of meat and particularly bacon that's on the menu. So yeah, I ordered the black-bean vegie burger and a bloody mary as a first even though that got me tons of wooo and haaa because for some reason it's borderline sacrilegious to have one boozy drink over lunch on a weekday here in North America even though elswhere in the world, it's really no big whoop.
But yeah, the drink was good. A nice tall glass of tomato juice with thick sea-salt crystals lining the rim. And get this - they stick a huge-ass marinated jalapeno pepper in it. Total win.
The vegie burger - somewhat less so. Bland-ish thick black-bean patty with half an avocado between an unremarkable, lightly toasted white bread bun. Oh hum. I went crazy with the salt trying to flavor it up. Unremarkable but well cooked home fries.
I had them at three points then I remembered the overwhelming smell of cooked meat (all that bacon does a number on this open-concept place) so they lost a point. But then they won it back cause of really rad 70s soul music they played all the way through.
