| - Great cafeteria to eat at on days when I don't want to deliberate too much on where to eat but want something slightly different. Their mainstay dishes include swedish meatballs w/ mash potatoes, and stuffed salmon with veggie medallions. They also have this tasty dessert which contains Swedish chocolate candy, both whose name eludes me. The price for these meals are great and for $10 one can walk away full and satisfied. When I don't have $10 I just go downstairs to where they serve hot dogs and coffee for nearly nothing.
Their swedish shop is awesome! I love buying the swedish meatballs which are great for work lunch preparations as well as odd knick knacks like their chocolate, candies, and tarts.
But IKEA is not known for its food but for it's unique shopping style. It takes patience to do the whole IKEA shopping, buying, and assembling thing. I almost wouldn't do it because of the setup process but it really is very cheap and my bedroom consists of nothing but IKEA furniture. I don't make a big deal out of buying "le chique le coo" furniture, but I certainly don't want my place looking like I scavenged the forgotten alleys of Calgary after the apocalypse. The showrooms are cool and give ideas of how things can be put together, but I particularly like the basement "pick-up-as-you-see" sections, where I can get anything odd and cheap, from a kitchen gadget to the office folder to even a kitsch bamboo plant I end up killing in a week. I also like how IKEA never fails to have zany names for each item, never with the boring "ITEM A8 CODE 53432", it would be awesome to have the job of the guy/girl who comes up with these names!
