Went in for a smog check because they had a great price, only $10. Pretty inciting.
Did not go in to have my car inspected, which was done anyways. A mechanic started poking around under the engine after the smog test was complete. Great, a ploy to attempt to make me spend more money when I only came in for a smog test. Honestly should have just gone in to a stand alone smog test vendor and paid and extra $4 to avoid this stress.
I was told the air filter was dirty. Which, it was, but not critically; a second opinion told me it has another 1-3k miles before it needed replacing. This component in my car costs around $10-12 and takes no tools or experience to replace in UNDER A MINUTE, and they wanted to charge me $20 for this. No thanks, severe price gouging right there, charging $600/hr labor.
I was also told the valve cover gaskets were worn and leaking. True again, but they tried to emphasize the terribleness of this occurrence. I don't remember the quote for this service, but I really hate when a car shop tries to tell me I NEED something done/replaced.
I asked them to please stop the inspection and let me pay for the smog test and leave at this point.
Did I have a calm and good experience at this shop: No.
Would I come to this shop again: Absolutely not.
