I would strongly recommend against staying at this hotel. For staters, it's in a bad part of town (confirmed by talking to the local cops). It's right by the freeway overpass under which transient drug addicts were constantly sitting. It's also directly across the street from a strip club and pawn shop...and we all know what kind of people those establishments attract. I'm just glad I didn't have a car to leave in the parking lot but I was also worried about walking around the hotel (day or night).
But even worse than the location of this hotel is the service I witnessed and received. I was here for work with several coworkers and we all were assigned different rates (mine being the cheapest). I heard my coworker asking the people at the front desk about it and they essentially said that my rate was a mistake. My coworker then asked to speak to a manager about it and I heard the clerk refuse that request, stating that the clerk knew the owner's feelings on changing room rates and speaking to a manager would do no good. I've never heard someone refuse the request to let someone talk to a manager before.
My bad experience was that the staff refused to let me check any bags. My flight didn't leave until 6:45 and checkout is at noon, and I planned on walking around town until my flight left. I read a review that said this hotel wouldn't let them check their bags and I couldn't believe it until I asked the staff for myself. The clerk told me that they would not be able to check my bags because they don't have anywhere to keep them. He then said he'd check with the manager, but he didn't think there was anything that would be done. After phone calls and emails to Wyndham corporate, they eventually agreed to check my bags on my checkout date. But when I went to check my bags, the clerk told me again that they couldn't do it. The manager heard what was going on and then asked what my name was and said they would make an exception...but she said that my bags would be kept in the boiler room so any valuables/electronics needed to be removed from my luggage and kept out in the open. That didn't sit right with me either so I risked taking my electronics with me through the shady part of town.
I've stayed at probably over 100 hotels in my life and I've never heard of anyone not checking bags...especially an airport location! Even third world countries in South America and Africa let me check my bags. I'll never stay at a Wyndham hotel ever again.
