My husband surprised me with a massage envy membership for my birthday last year. One of the selling points of the package is that you can use the massages whenever you want and do not have to use them every month, they omitted quite a bit of information in regards to that, which is why they have a class action law suit against them currently. To top off the massive amount of information they omitted to sell their membership they didn't even cancel my membership after I submitted the proper paperwork. I told them I need to cancel this I can't do $100 a month for something I can't use. So they canceled only the add on account to my account (which totaled $40 a month) but told me I wouldn't be charged any further than that month and the next for my account. So two months after I cancel I'm still getting charged $60 a month I call to ask why and they told me it's because I didn't tell them I wanted the primary account canceled. They believe it is the customers responsibility to read their minds and know how their accounts are set up and their record keeping practices and also you better know how to cancel in the appropriate jargon otherwise they'll just keep on charging you.
I brought this up with desert ridge management looking for a refund because I stated I was canceling $100 a month in charges it's not my problem how they set up their accounts or if their employees make oversights. I was referred to corporate who referred me back to the desert ridge franchise. It's been a week they have not returned my calls.
I would never recommend this place. It's such a bureaucracy that it's impossible to talk to anyone who actually has the authority to actually do anything like process a refund. No I'm not kidding I've been dealing with this place for weeks now and have yet to talk to anyone who can process a refund for an oversight. So if any mistakes on their side are made do not ever plan on seeing your money again. Knowing what I know now I would never again allow them to have access to my bank account because their company will let them have access to your money all day long but they won't let their employees or mangers touch their own money....and based on what I've seen from them there's little mystery as to why.
**UPDATE**
The day after I posted this review someone contacted me and told me right away that my refund has been processed and would post to my account in 5 to 7 business days, that was the end of the conversation- short and sweet. I'm leaving up my review because it was absolute hell to get to this point. But they did eventually make things right. So I have to give them credit where it is due. Going forward, if you're having trouble with the front desk staff or mangers post it on yelp and it will get resolved! Maybe they could just refer people with issues to whoever deals with the yelp account in the first place? Changed my rating to three stars, my services and experiences have always been good up until it came to canceling my membership.
