  • If you have any choice in the matter, please go to another hospital. If you are bleeding from a severed limb, take the extra 10 minutes to go to Summerlin Hospital. Instead of recounting my tale of horror, I will simply include the letter I wrote to Centennial Hospital following my visit: To Who it May Concern: I am writing in regards to an experience I had in your Centennial Hills Hospital on the evening of October 27, 2015. I had been suffering from extreme abdominal cramps and diarrhea for 6 days when my wife and mother finally convinced me to go the Emergency Room. Everything and everyone we consulted told us that diarrhea lasting more than 2 days should be treated by a doctor. I was rushing to the toilet more than 40 times per day (I started keeping track on day 4). I was sleeping on the bathroom floor and unable to attend work or school. I went to the Quick Care near my home and was told after a 3 hour wait that I needed to go directly to the ER because they did not have the appropriate equipment to care for me there. I was told that I was extremely dehydrated and that their only IV was currently being used. My mother and I arrived at the Centennial Hills Emergency Room and were told to wait. I recognize the hectic nature of an ER and understand that emotions are high and stress can be abundant. That being said, it was not a busy night in the ER by any means. While waiting to be seen by a doctor, I had to run to the rest room 4 times. We informed the nurse that I was experiencing severe chest pain and was told to continue to wait. We were eventually brought into a separate, smaller, intake room and continued to wait. I was eventually seen by Dr. Sun, who was extremely dismissive and short with my mother and me. Again, I would understand this attitude had the ER been more crowded and busy, which it was not. I was given an IV while sitting on a backless wooden stool. At that time I was still writhing and moaning due to the intense pain in my stomach. I was then put in a chair in the corner with my IV and given various pain medications. My wife eventually arrived to relieve my mother who returned to my home to watch our 3 small children. Throughout my hours in the ER, the nurse was horrible. Her name is Jenn. We returned later to get her full name and were denied that information. As I was being released, no one had explained what was going on and from what I was suffering. We had no idea if it was gas or a tumor. My wife asked Jenn, the nurse, what they had determined was the problem. In a rude and demeaning tone, Jenn pointed to the papers that had been given to my wife and said, "It's right there in your discharge papers." Wow. I had been in excruciating pain for a week and Jenn couldn't take 30 seconds to explain what was wrong with me. Such was her attitude during my whole stay in your hospital. She treated me as if I was pathetic for coming to the hospital for a simple stomachache, as if my condition wasn't embarrassing enough. My wife called a couple days later to complain about the way we were treated. Imagine how much more upset we became when we received a bill for $3,500.00!! Not only was I belittled and demeaned during an already traumatic experience, but now I had to pay an exorbitant amount for that experience! We make an effort to avoid Centennial Hills Hospital as much as possible due to an equally upsetting experience my wife had when she miscarried our first child in your facility. Her handling during that visit was equally horrible to that which I have described above, all while enduring the painful loss of a pregnancy! Unfortunately, it is the closest hospital to our home and seemed to be our only option as I was screaming in pain as my mother drove me to the ER that night. I have started a monthly payment plan in an effort to avoid collections but would hope that my unfortunate experience would merit some sort of relief. I am capable and prepared to pay $500 at this time (in addition to the $200 I have already paid) to close this account. The account number is 80043*****. I am currently a full-time law school at UNLV. My wife and I have 3 toddlers and have over $100,000 in student loans. I sent a personal copy as well as had my attorney contact the hospital about my grievance. This letter was responded to with a form letter denial. THEN, today, I was contacted by a collection agency to inform me that Centennial Hills had sent me to collections. While I was pursuing my claim!!!! Instead of putting my account on hold while we dealt with the issue, those bastards sent me to collections!! PLEASE DO NOT GO TO CENTENNIAL HILLS HOSPITAL!! They lack any and all sense of common decency. I have multiple family members who work is hospital administration and know first hand how important patient satisfaction is to most medical centers. Centennial Hills could care less about your health OR your satisfaction.
