| - On March 1, my brother suffered a stroke and IMMEDIATELY my girlfriend and I hopped in my car and drove all night from Southern California to Arizona. He had gone through two surgeries by the time we arrived at 6am. The first night we stayed at another hotel close by, and although it was a good hotel, we shopped online for a hotel that was cheaper. We found Sheraton Crescent for about 15 dollars cheaper so decided to book it on our second night. At the front desk we were assisted by Traci Lopez. She asked me what brought us to town (most of the guests were baseball fans there for Spring Training). When I told her that my brother was in the hospital for a stroke, she was very compassionate. I told her that I would only need to book for one night as I needed to do more price shopping for other hotels. She said that she would book another night at the same price if I chose to stay longer, and said that if there was anything they could do to help with my situation, to just ask. She also gave me 4 breakfast vouchers which surprised me since I believe the breakfast vouchers are charged at an additional cost with the reservation.
Later in the day, I found out that my sister and a cousin were arriving to town to see my brother in the hospital. I thought that it would be a good idea for all of us to meet at the Sheraton to have breakfast together. I went back to the front desk to ask for another voucher (there was going to be 5 of us, I was one voucher short). The person at the desk would not give me one more because my original reservation did not provide for ANY vouchers. I was a bit disappointed but understood they were just doing their job.
Fast forward the morning of checkout...I see Traci at the front desk first thing, and went and asked if she could provide me with one more voucher. She was more than happy to give me another one!
I was able to have my mom, sister, cousin and my girlfriend sitting at one table having a meal. This was the first meal we all had together since arriving a few days prior and since my brother suffered the stroke because we had been taking turns staying at the hospital to be with my brother.
I cant say enough how much Traci's gesture means to me and my family. I just booked for another night, all because of Traci's hospitality!! Oh, guess what? She asked me how many breakfast vouchers I wanted! Great job Traci!!! During this very difficult time for me, what you did shone a little light in my situation! Giving me the opportunity to sit down with my family to talk and comfort each other was so nice.
