| - This restaurant is in an absolutely gorgeous space in one of my favorite hotels on the strip, The Cromwell. It's bright and airy, with lovely booths and tables facing the strip through elegant open windows. It's really a pleasure to dine in this space.
I'm giving it three stars because I've dined here twice and both times the service was really poor. Once was a busy weekday lunch time, so I thought they were just slammed. The food and vibe was good enough that I took some friends back to try again this weekend. The place was pretty empty on a Saturday at 11:15 am, but inexplicably, our service was still terrible.
We ordered drinks at the bar and they asked us to close out before going to our table. Maybe the server ignored us because we already had drinks, but we were prepared to order lots of food and lots more drinks if he'd been attentive. Two of my friends ordered coffees at two different times during our meal and the server forgot both; after a reminder about his missing order, my husband was given a cold cappuccino that the server admitted had been sitting in the kitchen for a while because he'd forgotten it.
A friend ordered a cocktail (a Brown Derby) and the server came back twice to ask what the ingredients were and then told us that the bartender was googling it, which, while I'm sure was true, did not inspire a lot of confidence. We spent over an hour sitting at our table before we ordered our entrees. We did eat their delicious charcuterie and cheese plate during this time (the truffle-infused burrata...wow) but spent a lot of it doing the awkward neck-craning to flag our waiter so we could order more.
My dish (the salmon avocado toast) came with a side salad, but since my friends had all ordered starter salads, the server politely suggested that he could bring my side salad out first along with theirs. Excellent, except he forgot and did not bring it first. Then he remembered and brought it while my friends were finishing theirs.
We also ordered a bottle of wine and the waiter brought us the wrong bottle. None of the service issues were by themselves a big deal, but the large number of mistakes across only a small number of orders was frustrating, especially at a place where the price point is so high. Genuinely, I hope this place can get its act together with some better servers and management because it has so much potential. They have a lovely space and a creative menu, but I'm not rushing back.
