| - `Generally, I like this location and have used their services on occasion dozens of times over the last 18 years. They are locally owned and have steady, long-term staff. Joe remembers more about what he has done to my cars over the years than I do...sorta' crazy, actually. As I live ~2miles away, it is very easy to have basic oil changes and simple work done there. Plus, Meineke snailmails me deals periodically for ~$20-$25 for a conventional oil change that they do honor. They have never tried to sell me a service/part I didn't need. As such, in addition to oil changes, I have had them rotate/balance tires, perform all my exhaust work, replace brake rotors/pads, wheel hubs, and the like. Never a single problem. Though I think their parts are a tad bit expensive.
Note: Meineke HQ seems not to know the correct local phone number or correct hours for this location. As such, search engines list both incorrectly. Local number is (412)828-0190. IIRC, they open at 8AM.
All of that said, I frequently zip-in for an *unscheduled* oil change if I drive by and see an empty parking lot. This was never a problem, but in the last year or so they have "not had oil" on several occasions. They simply tell me to come back in few days or to make an appointment. Fine, but quite annoying. As a result, most recently I setup an appointment online on a Sunday to have oil changed on Wednesday. Joe called me on Tuesday to let me know they were out of oil and wouldn't get more until Thursday or Friday. REALLY? Low cost oil changes generate goodwill and generate some additional business. As my cars use conventional oil in conventional weights, to my thinking there is NO excuse not to stock sufficient oil to service clients. Sorta' makes me feel like I'm in the Monty Python "Cheese Shop" sketch. I now go out of my way and pay more to use the Pennzoil Express over on Rt8 near Saxonburg Blvd. Although Pennzoil is more expensive, they do very fast work and offer "free" coffee and snacks in their in-shop (somewhat grungy) waiting area. Note: If you prefer, Pennzoil lets you stay in your car during the change as they service it from the pit.
