  • Worst airport ever!! No wonder it was voted worst airport in the Midwest. We had a 6pm flight last week to start a long weekend/vacation. I decided we would get there early and visit some of the bars/restaurants to start the weekend off right. First of all the TSA pre check, premium access, and standard security are not properly labeled or sectioned off. Many people were in the wrong lines, cutting thru without anyone really saying anything or helping clear all the confusion. Even people leaving the terminal had to cut across these lines due to the airport being under construction (for the past 2 years). We arrived a little before 4pm to a decent line, probably 100 people to get thru the standard security line. I've gotten thru lines like this in the past in 20 minutes, no big deal (5 people per minute seems do-able right?). No, no, no...not here. They only had 1 line going for standard security and kept letting people cut up front, not sure of what special exception that is. We said something to a butchy 'captain M'erica looking TSA guy, asking what was going on. You know the type of guy, was in ROTC and thinks he was Marines, now TSA and thinks he's an important cop saving our great land. He claimed "oh its your congress that can only fund one micro-wave machine". Even so that doesn't warrant being a dick, holding people back after they test OK in the machine, and working at an impossibly slow pace. We arrive at the ticket guard after 1 hour 20 minutes. My wife recently changed her name so her last name on the ticket didn't match what was on her drivers license - the name is close though, only 2 letters off, and it is easy to miss. At first the security officer didn't even notice the name change. We were all set to go. But my wife being the honest person she is brought up her new SSN card, marriage license, and proper paperwork needed. The idiot TSA officer still couldn't comprehend what happened and why her name was close yet different. This warranted calling over 'M'erica' where he pulled us aside to another desk. We ended up waiting while he claimed he had to make a phone call. We waiting another 25 minutes while he stood there silently 'on hold' to verify her identity. I explained to him that we arrived nearly 2 hours early and were on the verge of missing our flight while we waiting here. No urgency, no understanding, typical meat head BS response. We got to the gate just before final boarding. Cleveland Hopkins you are in for some trouble come the RNC. I hope someone with clout tears you a new a-hole. The airport has been trying to attract more people to the restaurants and bars inside but with this BS we went thru good luck to anyone having any free time after getting thru the SHlTTY security process. I won't be flying out of Hopkins again unless absolutely necessary, I'll go to Akron or Columbus. Eff off. Oh and by the way coming back to Cleveland from Nashville. We literally got thru security in 10 minutes so don't give me that BS about government funding.
