The whole Dundas Square vibe is little Toronto trying to be like big sissy NYC. It just ain't happening. AMC theatre is no exception. Right on the Yonge & Dundas corner, I expected a lot from this theatre (it was a million years in the making). All I got was a poorly laid out theatre, over priced food and mediocre seating.
First of all, you have to take about 3-4 escalators to even get up to the theatre level. All the while passing by many big box retail stores, restaurants and a food court. Then after buying your ticket, you have to board another escalator to get to the where the theatres are. C'mon already! Such a poor use of space. Getting back down to ground level after the movie was equally a pain in the ass.
This got me thinking, I wonder what their fire emergency escape route would be, because that thing is a fire trap waiting to happen.
I'm not saying the theatre isn't cool looking, it's new what do you expect? But for the amount of hype and the location, it just doesn't do it for me. Sorry...
