| - I came for the falafel, but I am not adding it to my falafel short list. The wow factors here include a villa-esque interior. I was not expecting the huge wooden booths, tiled floors and twinkling light trees. Nicely done. Despite the fancy digs, the spot is completely casual. You order at the counter and take your number.
Other notables: The pita bread is prepared fresh to order, and there is a complimentary lentil stew and tea cauldron for everyone to enjoy. Considering these bonus treats, the price is terribly cheap. All of the plates are around $8, and when the plate hits the table your eyes will pop at the generous helping. I personally didn't enjoy the flavor of the lentil stew (It wasn't a typical lentil soup), but I still appreciated it being free.
Now for the falafel. They are served on a plate with a big heap of crispy fries and all of the salad fixin's. My first bite of falafel was great; the flavor is right. But, the texture is dense, so after eating one and a half, I wasn't as happy about finishing up my serving. My favorite falafels kind of pop open when you cut them, but these required a knife to really slice through. Not necessarily a bad thing, just not my preference.
So, I probably wouldn't go back for the falafel, but I think the atmosphere and the price point would warrant a repeat visit to try a kebab or maybe just snag a delicious, fresh salad on the run.
