My partner and I took her family to eat at Matt's Big Breakfast in Phoenix to try a new breakfast place out. It is in a strip mall next to a grocery store. It was very busy and took about 35 minutes to get a seat for 6, no big deal- I just figured this meant that it was good. The service was friendly enough but they seemed understaffed. It was very busy on this Monday morning after Xmas and our table didn't get much attention (no greeting, no goodbye, only 1 coffee refill, etc). There are no vegan options here. I appreciated that the server knew the hash browns were not vegan but the home fries were. She said the beans were vegan but I could not order them as a side only as part of the chilaquiles meal but since I am vegan, I obviously wasn't going to order that. And then my father in law ordered the chilaquiles and the beans came in a small dish on the side. So I ate home fries and drank coffee. The coffee was good and so were the home fries (I asked for jalapeƱos and onions to be cooked in with them). The rest of the family enjoyed their meals but wished for more attentive service. I would not go back but I think the meat eaters in the family will!
