  • I hate when I think all is GREAT then find out a company is trying to take you for a ride (no pun intended) when someone brings it to your attention. If you have to travel for work then you know the in and outs for most companies. This was my first time travelling for work with this company, and I was in luck because my company has several different contracts making is a bit easier to get airfare and cars and hotels. The neat thing is that you can STILL use your rewards cards for any of the companies. Can you say FREEBIES here I come? Enter in Avis. I booked the car via our company site that includes all the discounts to stamp out any headaches on arrival. I mean you'd think if your company of thousands of employees that travel all over the place ALL THE TIME, and has a contract with you, one would not screw them over in the off chance they might be the person setting up the contract and cancel you. The ENTIRE POINT of using the company site to book a car is it includes all the discounted price points, INSURANCE which is ALREADY PAID, mileage, GPS if you want it etc. So that's what I did. Pretty seamless process and I got an confirmation. It also attaches it to your flight info so you can print everything out together. I thought I was all set. I arrive with a couple other co-workers. They are getting a car to share and I'm getting one because I need to be able to get around and NOT have to depend on anyone. Plus Bunny was coming in the next day and we wanted to drive around the city. The lady Frida was SUPER NICE and FRIENDLY! Everything seemed to be all set up. She asked the standard questions like do you want the GPS and I said no I'd use my phone. Then she asked if I wanted insurance and I said yes. She did not ask if I wanted ADDITIOANL insurance! Just do you want insurance? I of course said yes to the insurance because even though the company pays for insurance if you don't except it and have an accident it's ON YOU! So you're required to at least say yes to except the ALREADY PAID FOR INSURANCE! I sign and get my keys and go find my car and I'm off. NO PROBLEMS with the car. Upon arrival to return the car that process is also easy. You just fill it up and hop out and an Avis attendant takes care of everything. I ALWAYS take picture when I get the car and once I RETURN IT as proof I filled it up, miles, and that there was NO DAMAGE! Just in case they try to pull a fast one. I had forgotten the initial paperwork in the glove box so I called and had an e-receipt sent to me with no issues. I needed it for my company because they reimburse you for gas, car, hotel, etc. Basically any out of pocket cost. And THIS IS WHERE IT ALL GOES DOWN HILL! Upon turning in my receipts I notice there is an EXTRA CHARGE for ADDITIONAL INSURANCE not just the ALREADY paid for insurance. NOT ONLY THAT they CHARGED ME FOR the LDW insurance which my company PAYS FOR in the contract! The lady at my company submitted the paperwork BACK to AVIS to get them to CREDIT me and they REFUSED. It took a bit of work but they eventually conceded. Then she sent me an email stating I had accepted ADDITIONAL INSURANCE which is NOT COVERED! I was finally reimbursed all except the ADDITIONAL INSURANCE FEE that I SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN CHARGED in the first place! It took a month of SUNDAYS calling, emailing, talking to managers and they still won't take it off the bill. SO ANNOYING! WHY on EARTH would I need ADDITIONAL INSURANCE? My company pays for insurance and I have full coverage for ANY CAR I DRIVE with my own insurance company! That fee should have NEVER BEEN ON the bill! Companies are ALWAYS TRYING TO PULL A FAST ONE! And it is for THAT REASON the company has decided to NOT RENEW AVIS' CONTRACT. APPRAENTLY I am NOT the ONLY victim and they do this all the time in the hopes of getting more monies out of customers. Well they certainly DO NOT HAVE to worry about my company anymore! I hope that additional $50 was worth it to you, because it will be the last $50 you get from me or any other people at my company.
