  • As a customer, you're paying to essentially volunteer yourself as a guinea pig....and I was ok with that. This girl has a budget, and the prices they charge are a third (or even less) than typical salons. For my black tie event, I came in requesting a formal up-do ($20). You can tack on a $3 manicure, waxing, or conditioning with any hair treatment. My nails were looking shabby, so what the heck. First advice - do NOT get your nails done here. The student was so nice, but she told me up front that nails aren't her thing - fair enough. She called her instructor in for backup to start on my French manicure. Horrendous!! It was painful to even watch. I sat there for 1.5 hours patiently, but I had to run to a makeup appointment. They wiped my nails clean, so they can start over when I come back. All that time wasted!! I was also forced to pay even though my nails looked worse than how I walked in. I was furious! After makeup came round 2 of my adventure here. This time, I went to hair first. I had the same student, and luckily, hair IS her thing - thank God! I showed her a few pictures of up-dos I liked and she got to work curling my hair. The instructor came to help with throwing it up in a bun. Two hours and 100 hair pins later, my hair came out looking beautiful! It was actually more incredible than I could have ever expected! The hairstyle lasted all night. I was very impressed! Since the hair was taking a while, I had another student work on my nails simultaneously. Once again, it turned out sooo sloppy, but at this point, I was running late to the event so whatever was on my nails had to work. She also kept accidentally touching the wet polish which was frustrating. I probably could have done a better job on my own nails, quite frankly. It seems like no one in this salon can do a proper manicure. If you're trying to look fabulous on a tight budget, this is the place to go. Although I was satisfied with my hair (not so much the nails), I will definitely be going to a professional salon next time. I wasted an entire Friday afternoon here, and the students really test your patience with their low level of knowledge and experience. Not worth it.
