| - I was on the receiving end of an order last week. A client of mind found out that I had broken my ankle and as a nice gesture decided to send a fruit basket from Edible Arrangements. Unfortunately, on the day it arrived, I was getting xrays. The delivery person decided to leave it with a neighbor three doors down across the street (we're on acre lots). We did find a crumpled up note stuck in our front door the next day. When I attempted to reach the house indicated on the note, no one was home. So Saturday afternoon, I called Edible Arrangements. I spoke with Barb, who seemed kind and understanding. She apologized and asked if someone had left me a message on my phone. I told her there were no messages. She said that she often delivers, and when she does she not only leaves a note, but also a voice mail, as many people don't go to their front doors, they go to their garage doors. As is the case with me. She said that all their deliveries had already left for the day, but that she could send a replacement fruit basket on Monday. I thanked her and told her that would be fine. Monday came and went. I even rearranged my day so that I would be home to receive the basket and to ensure that the same thing wouldn't repeat itself. No basket. So when 5:00pm rolled around, I called Edible and spoke with Annie. I described to her briefly why I was calling. She seemed to know about the situation. She further explained that the reason I didn't get a basket today was that Barb had to talk with the owners and they would decide if they would redeliver. And that perhaps it would be delivered the next day. Being frustrated to wait another day for this basket and looking at the basket I had just picked up from the neighbor down the road, I was done with fruit. (Plus, picking up the basket was no easy feat with a broken ankle.) The basket sitting in front of me was already squishy and unpalatable. As I kindly and patiently expressed my displeasure to Annie, she seemed totally uninterested. I even explained that I would advise my client friend that I was going to suggest to them they find another source for their flower and fruit deliveries. She once again seemed to care less. I told her to forget the whole thing and that I did not want another basket. She then replied, "okay, thank you".... I'm sure Edible Arrangements offers a great product when delivered on time to the intended person. However, their customer service and follow through is truly lacking. If you decide to use them (and they're not inexpensive), I would suggest being very clear about your delivery instructions to get your money's worth out of the experience. Not impressed.
