| - My friend picked me up from the airport around midnight on a Monday and we had nothing better to do, so we decided to stop by Mill Ave on the way back and grab a beer or two. We wanted to try a place we had never been before, so we wandered into Handlebar around 1am and found the place empty except for a bartender and waitress. We knew it was late on Monday night, but I don't think either of us were expecting to be the only ones in the joint.
We sat up at the bar and the bartender started telling us about their Brown Bag special on Mondays. For $8, you get a domestic tall boy, a shot of Fireball/Jager/Jameson, and your choice of either a popsicle, ice cream sandwich, or pack of cigarettes. I had never had anything like it before and I elected to pass that night, but I was intrigued and might have to go back to give it a shot.
Anyways, you'll find a pretty wide selection of beer at Handlebar, and our bartender was more than happy to walk my friend through the differences between IPAs and ales. He let us sample a handful of different chocolate-y beers before we settled on our drinks of choice, and he even handed us the remote to change the TV channel. It's a nice spot on Mill if you want a break from the typical party vibe on the avenue.
