Delicious and authentic Chilean food - an institution in the Kensington Market according to locals/papers etc. I had heard about it in the "lunches for $5ish" review in last weeks Now Mag and decided I'd try it out. I was not disappointed. They now have mini empanadas for $1/each so you can sample all three - beef, chicken or vegetarian. I went for the "jumbo" chicken empanada stuffed with a mixture of chicken, egg and green olives and a small side of spicy salsa. It was piping hot and delicious but I did think a heartier side of salsa would have been nice. Next time I go I'll ask for a double shot!
They also have beautiful looking avocado salads, corn puree wrapped in leaves (forget the name but it's on the chalkboard and sounds fantastique) and the classic coconut dipped dulce de leche cookies in glass cases on the countertop.
I was staying inside to keep cool but they have a really sweet patio out front for prime people watching.
