| - And now to add to my list of pizza places, Cibo.
Here is how I rank the pizza of Arizona, and I've tasted a LOT of it.
1. Pizzeria Bianco
2. Patsy Grimaldi's
3. Cibo
4. Pomo
5. Humble Pie
. We ended up at Cibo because we were craving Grimaldi's (didn't have a car to get to the location in Old Town), we didn't feel like waiting for Pizzeria Bianco, and the light rail had a convenient stop around .4 miles away from Cibo. Easy walk over.
Cibo can best be likened to Pizzeria Bianco or Pomo in taste. The owners, both very kind people, were working as the hosts the night we came in. It was around a 45 minute wait at 8:00 on a Thursday, so I just talked with my two good friends while we waited. No big deal. The restaurant had a homely feel to it, as it is a renovated old house and it was family-ran.
The atmosphere of the restaurant had an older feel to it. More of a place for 25 year olds instead of a bunch of college students, but whatever. I'd highly recommend the outside tables for a date, it has a "romantic" feel to it. It is also a good place for large parties, although I think Grimaldi's is a bit more convenient.
Now, the food.
The bread. Wow. Great bread, only beat by Chris Bianco's bread or the Andreoli's bread. I loved it, definitely worth the $2! Had a great crunch to it and was very tasty. Europeans definitely put more emphasis on their bread than Americans!
The pizza came in a pretty timely manner considering how busy it was that night. I ordered my standard, Margarita with Spicy Salami (aka, pepperoni). No normal pepperoni here. :( They had a lot of other options as well, such as Salmon for your pizza and more! The pizza was excellent. The crust was great and all around it was delightful!
We didn't order Crepes, Salad, or Bruschetta, but I definitely want to try the Bruschetta and Crepes next time I go there. Both looked great! The restauraunt seemed to have a lot of good options for wine as well!
All around, an awesome place to be. We'll be back once school kicks up again.
P.S: Keep in mind their hours! They are closed Sundays.
