| - I have to say that I have been extremely skeptical of all Banfield locations and Banfield vets for years now because they are always trying to sell you something. Even when you have the "puppy plan" or dog insurance that's supposed to cover just about everything aside from major surgeries and not-so-major medications your animal(s) might need. In the past, they have attempted to charge me hundreds of dollars for things that I later discovered were not wrong with my dog... Anyway, all of my negative feelings about them changed yesterday.
I have a very sick puppy. He was separated from his mommy too early by a terrible person who lied to me about his age. He developed a cough and at only 1 lb 2 oz, the vet was reluctant to give him anything to ease his pain or suppress his cough; however, Dr. Thompson recognized how much pain my poor puppy was in and took time out of her busy schedule (the clinic was packed) to do some research and find out that he could be safely given an injection, and she did exactly that. She even called me a few hours later to see if it worked and said that since the pharmacy couldn't have the oral version ready until the following day, I could bring him back in for another one that evening so he wouldn't have to be in so much pain. I would have gladly paid just about anything to help him out, but all I was charged for were his antibiotics, $0 for the first injection, $0 for the second visit and second injection, and no one tried to sell me a thing. The best part? Someone from Banfield even called me today (the day after his appointment) to see how he was doing and offered to have him come back in for yet another injection since his medication won't be ready for pickup until 2pm. I definitely feel like they really care about my puppy's health, and I won't even think twice about taking him back there.
