  • First time I saw the Blue Man Group was back in NY while watching PBS station while in college (many years ago). Then saw it again on the PBS station here in Vegas. And I made a vow - to see these guys live. Got a attend the show October last year, and yes it still stays with me! If you have seen the performance on PBS, well you aren't getting anything much different. It's just cooler because you are PART of the show! Reasons to like - there's no plot to the show! It's just a bunch of guys doing silly antics while banging on some homemade PVC acoustical drums. And let's face it - how often do we get to relish doing or participating with silly antics without getting frowned at or the strange looks from everyone around you because you are supposed to be "mature"? Now I find it ingenious to create drums out of PVC piping, and stuff that you can change the tone on! THAT's even cooler! But it's the facial expressions on these guys as you watch the show that's the killer. OH and don't think as being the audience you get to escape into someone else's world. Oh no no no! They bring you along for the ride! You get to clap, laughter is REALLY encouraged (I mean the more you laugh the sillier they get). Annnnnnd they just attack all the silly notions with technology! So you name something to make fun of that is part of our normal every day thing - and well - it's attack with a case of the sillies! So you are not just sitting in your seat looking at your clock, or yawning - you are engaged the whole time. I would HIGHLY recommend avoiding a late entrance - you juuuust might get singled out - spotlight and all as you are shown to your seat!! Now - sorry - but I cannot just cannot place this in the 5 star category. Not quite the performance level as Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserable, Ka, or Bloodbrothers. And it would do those guys injustice if I did place the blue men in here. I would definitely rate this show as a 4.5!!! (but yelp doesn't do half stars --- :( So Yelp, please Yelp, make half stars available!)
