  • Location and design is awesome. Modern style, hardwoods, huge huge huge windows. We got an enormous 2BR for a good price, especially for Uptown. However, there is a major flaw: NOISE. Noise everywhere. More noise than there should be from a place that's not that old. NO INSULATION between the floors, so hardwoods + concrete = small people sounding like herds of water buffalo playing rugby. An update/correction to the earlier church comment: They ring every 30 minutes (like a grandfather clock) from 10am to 7:30pm...EVERY DAY. They also play a song on top of the clock chimes at the top of EVERY HOUR also. Sunday mornings? EVERY 10 MINUTES from about 8:30a-10a. Depending on where you live (we are on the building corner at the corner of 7th & McDowell), road traffic and emergency sirens might be a bit too much also. There's a Fire Station on the opposing block (6th & Myers) that has a ladder truck running by at full siren so so many times a day. The rent here is fair, and includes water, trash, sewage, and free wifi. Since this was originally built as condos for sale, and reverted to a rental property post-housing crash, there is no club room or residence-dedicated fitness center. However, fitness membership at Pura Vida onsite is included in the rent. Gated, secured parking for tenants, guest parking is quite sparse (and always full). Salon, Pillar Pub, fitness center, convenience store, and dry cleaner all located on site for multiple layers of convenience. Mailrooms are located inside each of the 3 secured-access, separate buildings. Don't be surprised if you happen to meet any local pro sports players; this is Crosland-managed, and Crosland is a corporate sponsor for many teams, so there's usually Panthers or Bobcats or Checkers living here as well. While the tenant makeup is scattered, the majority of the population is in the younger, weekend partying type. Maybe if I was a tad younger I'd fit in a little better and have more tolerance for the "fraternity" types.
