  • Unbelievably incompetent! I went to the branch to get a document notarized, and a signature guarantee on another. The branch was empty (except for 5 employees) but I was told I couldn't get the page notarized because I didn't have an appointment. The branch's only notary was socializing with co-workers. I asked why she couldn't do it and was told it was because she had her time blocked to do "business development" on the phone. It would have to be another week because she was going on vacation and didn't have a backup. I then asked to do the signature guarantee, but was told only the branch manager can do it and she was out for the day. Again, she didn't have a backup. I made an appointment. When I showed up the next day, I was told the manager called in sick. I was then told they don't do signature guarantees. When I called the Corporate Office, I was told B of A provides signature guarantees to clients with 6+ months history and I needed to find a branch that had a Branch Manager. To my amazement, it took several calls to find a branch that actually had a branch manager. The first few I called had lost their branch manager and the position hadn't been filled! I wouldn't be surprised if Bank of America exited the brick & mortar side of banking given their lack of interest in truly meeting their clients' traditional retail banking needs. All they want to do is make loans and refer people to Merrill Lynch.
