I'm not one for "roughing it" and was skeptical upon arrival. The location is on a pretty dumpy corner. And the "newly renovated" sign looks like it's from the 60's.
However, the service was great, the rooms - you can tell - were newly painted, the carpets were clean, the linens and blanket on the bed were clean (HATE those nappy, dirty feeling, paper-ish hotel blankets and refuse to stay in a hotel that has those), so I was pleasantly surprised!
Felt safe and the hotel was only... maybe 10 blocks?? to the US Airways Center. I walked with another girl friend of mine and never felt uneasy. In fact I stayed another night for a basketball game the next weekend. Would go again. Only took away a star because of the sketchy-looking location.
