  • I have to say for Jap Fusion joint I totes dig it!!! I have been wanting to come try Lucky Foo's for awhile but with a 1 and a half year old who can't stay still and a brand new newborn who hasn't gotten her shots yet makes it for a hard expedition. But anyhow we finally made it here. The happy hour is awesome because it's everyday and it's from 3pm-6pm. So weather you are off during the week or weekends you can take advantage of their deals. Lucky Foo's has lots of tapas type dishes with mini bites. My wife and 2 kids came here on a Friday night well more like (5:00pm) and it was not busy at all but it took a while (10 or so minutes) for anyone to acknowledge that we were there. Which kind of suck because when you got young kids and want to do anything you need to make it snappy wam bam thank you bam kind of deal. That the reason for the none full five star rating. Others then that everything else was awesome except for a few minor clothes here and there. Also but when someone did finally greeted us she was very nice and super friendly to my girls....well actually the whole staff was pretty much like that. The resturant decor is awesome we've all seen pix of it. They offer indoor and outdoor dining. They even have this cool room towards the back with traditional jap seating style area, I'm not sure if it's for dining or what but the lighting in there is cool and it can be semi closed off. Anyhow back to the food. So the happy hour prices are ok and they've picked a handful of populars to put on the menu and the drink deals are good. We order the Charred Shishito peppers (my new favorite thing in the world), the Ebiyaki , Foo dogs (so good), the Robata Grilled Pork Belly (I love pork belly) and the Crispy fire cracker rice Roll (I think that's what's it's called) and an ice cold Asahi and an Old Fashion to go with the meal. Everything was mostly off of the HH menu for about $6-$8 and they were all delicious and small portioned. Except for the Ebiyaki. I've never had that before so I don't know what to compare it to but it sounded and looked better then it tasted. I thought it was going to be a lot more crispier but it wasn't and it had a weird mushy filling that wasn't really good so skip that. But the peppers was dresses nicely with a side of awesome sauce. No really the aioli they give with those was amazing. The 3 mini foo dogs wrapped in potato chips was so juicy and tasty and the chip was crispy and thin; awesome. The pork belly was pork belly just really fatty and good. The Crispy firecracker roll was good but lacked in spicy tuna like they promised and the thin jalapeño was so thin it almost disappeared. As for the rice I mean I Iove crispy just as much as the next guy but the roll was pretty much all crispy rice. But for what it was it was very good. Needless to say before we can even order the rest of our meal and drinks the kids were going crazy so we had to pack up and leave with what we had left or haven't eaten. My wife got here beer at the beginning of the service but I never got my Old Fashion (their signature drink) so I'm going have to try it next time to give it a proper review. Besides all that I was glad we were able to squeeze a little bit out of our attempt of a night out with 2 little ones. Now we got to come back and try out the other stuff we wanted to eat and drink, and we definitely will be back.
