  • Updated: Funny how my review was moved but I'm posting again. Let me start by saying that I did not hire California Pools to build my pool and frankly I would dig my own pool with a hand shovel before I would hire this company after my experience at their Chandler location. My wife and I walked into their office on the afternoon of Saturday March 10th to get some quotes for a new pool and demo of our existing small play pool. After waiting for a few minutes, we were greeted by the designer and sat down at his desk to begin. He told us that he was heading out soon to go to their other office location but could speak to us for a few minutes. He then mentioned that he was a landscape architect and that demo/remodel was not his expertise but he could provide us with some additional information and advice. So far, so good but this is where things went down hill quickly. Once we started discussing a remodel or demo of existing pool, he mentioned that the cost for demo of this extremely small play pool would cost ~15k. We responded that we had quotes from another large pool builder, as well as, a demo company and both quotes were in the 4-5k range. He seemed either embarrassed or irritated by our response and then said that dumping fees vary and that is the main cost regarding demolition of an existing pool. He then proceeded to tell us we should jump on those quotes and hire the other companies. Even though we did not realize it, at this point I think he was done with us. We then said that based on his information and what we received from other companies that we spoke to, a demo was likely the best choice for us so we then tried to move on to the next step...the new pool. At this point he said that he couldn't provide any information on pricing of a new pool. We were somewhat confused by his response and then clarified what we were asking for assuming he misunderstood. He reiterated that he would not provide us with any of that information. Still confused, we asked again that we wanted to get pricing from California Pools for a new pool so we could compare to the other quotes we received to determine which company to go with. He flat out refused to provide us with any information and said that he could not help us. We were shocked... we stood up, said "I guess we are wasting your time then" and we walked out the door. I can't imagine a representative from any business treating potential customers spending thousands of dollars this poorly and handling a situation worse than this. The pool business is a very competitive and if this was my company, I would be very concerned if my employees where representing my company in this manner. Needless to say, I would never do business with California Pools and will gladly follow the California Pools sales rep's advice and take my 70k down the street to one of their competitors.
