  • This go around, I was a bit hungrier so I ordered the steak burger ($10) medium well with candied bacon and Spanish blue cheese as my freebie toppings (additional toppings are 50 cents ea.). The burger was served neatly between two thick slices of bread (not sure of the type). In addition to the burger, I also ordered a side of their brussel sprouts and rice. A plentiful amount of sprouts are served with candied bacon. They're quite tasty, but I'm not sure I'd give them the award for best sprouts in the city. The rice was quite bland and flavorless. The majority of the rice was soft, but some pieces were crunchy and ultimately got stuck in my teeth - unsure if that's the way the rice is meant to be served. Brought my own wine and wasn't charged a corkage fee (unsure if they even charge one). Sat in the back of the restaurant. What should be a 4/5 experience became a 3-3.5 due to a number of fruit flies swarming around the table. Originally sat in the back right corner, but moved a bit closer to the center of the room in an effort to avoid them - unfortunately, this didn't help as they just followed my trail. By the time we finished up, we had caught two flies in a wine glass. I mentioned something to one of the employees who seemed shocked and noted that she had been at the restaurant since 10A and hadn't seen any (strange?). Anyway, she said she'd mention something to one of the managers. The place started to get busy closer to 7:30 and I could tell we were subtly being pushed out the door when two employees started cleaning everything off the table. We got the hint and left.
