| - My painter made me a deal I couldn't refuse on painting my rental home, and coating my garage floor. After I got loured into a discount price, I made the mistake of having my painter do my garage floors. His name was Javier. He told me that he had experience in doing epoxy garage floor coverings. I should've asked him for references. He used a Home Depot do-it-yourself garage floor epoxy system. (Which he made ME purchase)
What a mistake I had made. He promised me that he would properly prep the concrete by pressure washing and acid treating. He may have done that correctly, who knows. But the execution of placing the next steps require years of experience in order to achieve a professional result. Chips were heavy in spots and light in others, It looked Horrible!
The floor was totally messed-up. The texture of epoxy was random throughout, as were the "flakes" that get scattered onto the surface. The flakes were clumped together in certain areas, and loosely scattered in others. Some flakes were so loose and non-bonded that they were being transported into the house as I made my way through the garage into the house.
It all started out because this was a rental home, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money on the garage floors. ( I didn't forget First Class Coatings, just was looking to save a few bucks) But as it turns out, I ended up spending more money than I would've had I started with a professional. I had to call the person that did my own personal garage floors in my private residence. I had to call -Eric from First Class Coatings again... Glad I did!
I showed Eric the poorly done job. Eric didn't want to do the garage floors, seeing that someone else had started the process. He didn't want his name associated with this project that might tarnish a stellar reputation. He wasn't sure how well the epoxy bonded to the concrete in the job from the painter. He could offer no guarantees. I know it's much harder to "correct" a Bad job than to do a good job right from the beginning.
But as it turns out Eric was able to correct the massive mistake and turn it into what appeared to be a beautiful seamless epoxy-coated garage floor.
I didn't want to trust anyone else in trying to correct the disaster I had on my hands.
In the long run, this was a learning experience for me. I spent more money going through the painter, then having Eric fix the crappy job done by the painter.
If you're looking for a predictable, excellent job, done at a reasonable price call Eric. Don't make the mistake of using a person with minimal experience! Eric is not the cheapest, nor is he the most expensive. But chances are, the job will be something you can will be extremely pleased and it will be done to a high detail fashion, and Finished ON-Time!
